Antoinette ‘Anny’ Johnson
Antoinette Johnson, known as Anny, is a British Author and Founder of The Worst Book Company.
She launched her writing career in 2012 when she wrote and published her first book, The Worst Book I’ll Ever Write, in just five days. In the years that followed, she continued to use her personal experiences to inspire and encourage others, wrote more books, and after some personal and mental health issues, tried her best to be ‘normal.’
During the 2020 Lockdown, she reconnected with herself, re-read The Worst Book I’ll Ever Write and thought about how she could amplify it’s message to empower more people along their individual life adventures, and support them as they pioneer their own unique pathways.
In June 2021, Anny used the four step process she wrote about in The Worst Book I’ll Ever Write, to plan and launch Journal Circuit in just five days - our first official class. During the summer of 2021, she decided that returning to the office post-COVID wasn’t an option for her, so with one client - Humankind, an alcohol recovery charity, she took the leap and incorporated The Worst Book Company.
She is passionate about people, their authentic life experiences and the power of the written word. She is an advocate for mental health awareness and the eradication of stigma that exists around mental illness, believing that mental illness is just a sign that the real you is screaming to be made free, but doesn’t feel safe enough to do so.
“One of the things people often say when they talk with me, is that they feel safe, seen and known. I used to think everyone could make people feel that way, but now I realise it’s my gift and I have a responsibility to own, nurture, protect and share that gift with people who are open to receive and appreciate it.”
Anny’s dream to fly as Cabin Crew came true, just three months after launching The Worst Book Company, so now enjoys flying long-haul alongside her role here.
